Needs Statement:​

The goal of the Provider Wellness Symposium is to promote self-care for healthcare professionals. Through collaboration with our colleagues, partners, industry leaders, and a vast network of support teams, our goal is to enable clinicians to care for their wellness today to avoid caring for an illness tomorrow. Our mission is to help attendees learn evidence-based strategies and tools to better care for themselves to provide safe and effective patient care.

 

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify leadership skills in a healthcare environment and differentiate among the techniques of leadership and crisis management

  • Outline ways to mitigate stress and promote self-care among the health workforce

  • Illustrate the effects of traumatic events and how these can affect providers and patients

  • Examine the pathophysiology of addiction, the occupational risk, and approaches to treatment and support for a sustainable recovery in healthcare professionals.

Target Audience:

Healthcare professionals across all specialties that provide patient care such as many clinical specialty physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, fellows, residents, social workers, and dentists.

Educational Methods:

Lecture, Skill-based Training Workshop, Small Group Breakout Sessions, and Other (Experiential Learning)

Activity Evaluation:

Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias.
